Funding / Budget
The Broads Authority has two accounts - a General Account and a Navigation Account - the latter is a statutory requirement of the Broads Act.
General Account funds are spent on conservation, planning, information and interpretation, recreation and management, and administration. Funding for the General Account comes from the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra), in recognition of the national status of the area.
The Navigation Account is self-financing out of tolls paid by users of the Broads waterways, and can be used only for the benefit of these toll payers.
