Appointments
The majority of Broads Authority members are either elected to local authorities and appointed by their local authority to the Broads Authority, or they are appointed by the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs.
The Secretary of State's appointees include at least three after consultation with representatives of boating interests, and at least two after consultation with representatives of landowning and farming interests. These members may be appointed for up to four years, which can be extended to a maximum of 10 years in total.
Two members of the Authority are appointed from the Navigation Committee.
