Committee Membership

The full Broads Authority is the main focus for decision making about the Norfolk Broads. However, the Broads Authority is structured into several committees who hold meetings to make decisions on or consult on specific matters such as planning and navigation. The Planning Commitee considers and makes decisions about planning applications whilst the Navigation Committee and  Broads Forum fulfil a more consultative role. A new Financial Scrutiny and Audit Committee was established in 2009 to ensure that financial planning risk is managed effectively. The Authority is required by statute to have a Standards Committee whose objective is to promote and maintain high standards of conduct by Authority members. The Broads Authority also has a Local Access Forum, a semi-independent body that advises on the improvement of public access to land.
