Organisation Structure
Membership and committee structure
The Broads Authority has 21 members. The aim of this small committee structure is:
- To provide a streamlined, efficient and quick decision-making process;
- To enable members to be involved in, and well informed on, all aspects of the Authority’s work; and
- To ensure members’ accountability.
The full Authority is the main focus for decision-making (meeting six times a year), while the Planning Committee considers and makes decisions in respect of planning applications. The Navigation Committee and the Broads Forum fulfil a consultative role. The Authority is required by statute to have a Standards Committee to promote and maintain high standards of conduct by members of the Authority. The Broads Local Access Forum is a semi-independent body, established under the Countryside and Rights of Way Act, to advise on the improvement of public access to land within the Authority’s executive area.
Submitting a Question
Members of the public can submit questions to any of the Broads Authority committee meetings. If you would like to submit a question to an Authority meeting, please read the notes on the Public Questions page.
