Corporate Volunteering

Norwich Union StaffThe Broads Authority offers opportunities for team-building challenges for corporate groups. By taking part you can make a difference to nature conservation and maintain areas for public enjoyment, while working as a team and having fun.

The work may include habitat management, clearing invasive alder and willow scrub from the fens, footpath maintenance, tree planting and other activities to contribute to the managment of the Broads. You can expect to get a bit mucky and energetic, but that's all part of the fun. We will provide supervision, tools and other resources that you may need to complete tasks. You will need to wear old clothes and stout shoes or wellies - we will advise you in advance. You will also need to bring a hearty packed lunch and a drink.

We have already had a significant contribution to our work from a range of organisations such as the John Innes Institute, the Royal Air Force, the Environment Agency and more recently this group from Norwich Union.

"We spent the day rebuilding the Weavers' Way footpath that runs beside Hickling Broad, which involved cutting down small trees and overhanging branches, clearing brush and removing gorse bushes. The day was a lot of hard work, but ultimately very satisfying. We have several new team members so it was great to get everyone together, and a useful team-building activity - something we would recommend to other teams in the Norwich Union."  Amy White, Norwich Union member of staff.
