Dredging and Engineering Works

The Sediment Management Strategy published by the Broads Authority sets out the known issues and principles for addressing the task of sediment management. The strategy also identifies the volume of sediment that requires removal to achieve ideal waterway specification. This allows the Authority to take a proactive rather than a reactive approach to the dredging of the navigation area.

A hydrographic survey of the waterbodies is compared to the waterways specification, along with disposal opportunities to score and prioritise the sedimenet removal. For further details please see the Sediment Management Strategy.

The 2008/2009 Dredging Programme, detailed below, highlights the Authority's priorities over the comming year.
