Water Depths and Navigation Notes
Water Depth Information and Navigation Notes
The water depth information presented is a graphical representation of data obtained through the implementation of the Authority's hydrographic policy which requires surveying of all lower reaches of the rivers every two years and other areas no less than every five years.
Publication of this information not only meets our obligation under the requirements of the Port Marine Safety Code, but equally provides a wealth of data that could prove very useful for all waterways users.
The data is split into two sections, Northern and Southern Rivers and subsequently into rivers and then reaches on those rivers. For each river and each reach we have also provided 'Navigation Notes' which draw users' attention to hazards and other features that may need to be considered when navigating.
If you wish to view a specific area within the selected reach, please use the zoom function within your default viewer to increase the scale. All data files are in a pdf format, if you do not have a pdf viewer installed on your computer a free viewer can be downloaded here. Alternatively there are other pdf file viewers available on the internet.
All dimensions in tables are in metres and depths are shown at Mean Low Water.
Please follow this link to the Sediment Management Strategy, Appendix, which details the agreed user waterway specifications which show cross sections for various areas of the rivers.
Any comments with respect to this information can be made using our Hydrographic Survey Feedback form.
