LOCAL NOTICE TO MARINERS BOARDING & LANDING OF PILOTS

Mariners and Port-Users are advised that following recent Pilot ladder incidents at other UK ports, an additional safety control measure is to be introduced with immediate effect.

The Masters of all vessels intending to take a Pilot will be REQUIRED to co-operate with this additional safety control measure.

Masters must ensure the Pilot Ladder or other boarding arrangement is properly constructed, recently inspected and in good condition. The boarding arrangements must be rigged in accordance with SOLAS Regulation V/23 and IMO Resolution A.1045 (27) “Required boardingarrangements for pilot”.

The master will be required to give verbal confirmation of the above to Lowestoft Port Radio before Pilot transfer takes place.
Failure to comply with these requirements will result in the postponementof the Pilot Transfer until safe transfer arrangements have been provided.
