Local Notice to Mariners No 27 2007

High Water Small Boat Openings
During Bridge Maintenance

Extended Bridge Closures 2000 Saturday to 0600 Tuesday

The openings for small craft will be arranged for the high-water time, provided a minimum of 45 minutes' notice has been received by the Port Control. They may be asked to use a commercial opening in this period if one has been arranged.

During these periods when only small craft are using the bridge lift there may be occasions when only one of the bridge leaves will be lifted fully and the other will be raised to an angle of 63 degrees.

This will leave a slight overhang over the bridge channel. Should this happen then there will be only one way traffic through the bridge channel, as indicated by the bridge control lights and from information received on VHF 14.

All vessels are to keep to that side of the channel where the bridge leaf is fully raised.

All commercial openings will have two fully opened bridge leaves.
