BASCULE BRIDGE OPENINGS
OVERNIGHT RESTRICTIONS
Mariners and Port Users are advised that due to essential maintenance works; overnight restrictions to all Bascule Bridge openings will apply from Sunday 23rd. May until 9th. July 2010.
These restrictions will operate from 2200BST – 0600BST on Sunday to Thursday nights. During this period the only permitted openings will be for Large Tidally dependent commercial vessels (i.e. Those with a LOA of 65 metres or greater). These vessels will be permitted to transit the bridge during a Tidal window one hour before to one hour after High Water and from Low Water to two hours afterwards. To use such an opening advance notice of the vessel’s E.T.A. of at least twelve hours will be required.
There will not be any other openings during this period for smaller commercial vessels or any leisure craft. Such vessels may be permitted to use a large commercial vessel opening if navigational safety can be assured. If there is not a large commercial vessel booked for a tidal window, there will not be an opening.
Vessel owners, operators, agents and masters are asked to bear these restrictions in mind when planning any vessel movements at the Port of Lowestoft.
