Local Notice to Mariners No 5 / 2010
BARGE MOVEMENTS - LOWESTOFT OUTER HARBOUR
MID- JUNE 2010
Mariners and Port Users are advised that on or around 16th. June 2010, Barge UR96 is scheduled to depart from Lowestoft. This Barge is expected to leave SLP North Load-Out Berth at 1030hrs BST. The Barge will be temporarily moored on Sladdens Pier, before leaving the Harbour at 1200 hrs approx. It is expected that this barge will be clear of the Harbour entrance and approach channels by 1300hrs that day.
The following day – 17th June, SmitBarge 2 is scheduled to arrive at Lowestoft. This Barge is expected to enter over the High Water slack period at approx. 1230hrs BST. The Barge will be temporarily moored on Sladdens Pier, before being towed to SLP North Load-Out Berth. It is expected that this operation will be completed by 1400hrs that day.
During these Barge movements all vessel movements in the Outer Harbour will be restricted. Any movements must be authorised by Lowestoft Port Control, VHF Ch. 14. Any vessels authorised to move must be aware of tug movements in vicinity of the Barge and proceed with extreme caution.
Mariners and Port Users are advised to plan all vessel movements so as to avoid any delays from the Barge Operation.
Note that these operations are subject to favourable weather and tidal conditions. Consequently, timings may be changed at short notice.
