Site Investigations
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN THAT site investigation works are to take place commencing on the 14th August, 2006.
Commencing on the 14th August the vessel Flat Holm will be carrying out vibrocore work within the Work Area detailed below for a total period of five days. The vessel will work at fixed locations and will be unable to move once coring starts. All vessels should keep well clear at slowest manoeuvrable speed. Weather permitting, works will be completed by the 18th August, 2006, otherwise work will continue week commencing 21st August, 2006.
Commencing on the 29th August, 2006, the jack-up barge Mojack or Haven Seaway will be working with a tug and attendant craft within the Work Area detailed below. The work will involve the drilling of boreholes and each borehole will take between 12 and 24 hours. Once jacked-up the barge will be unable to move and mariners are advised to give the barge as wide a berth as possible. Six of the boreholes are east and north-east of the North Pier in close proximity to the harbour approach/departure route and mariners should proceed with extreme caution in this area and avoid being set onto the barge. It is anticipated that works will complete on the 6th October, 2006, any weather delays will be accommodated in the following week.

The vessels mentioned above will display the appropriate signals and shapes as required by the International Collision Regulations.
Vessels not bound into or out of the port should stay clear of the Work Area defined above. Vessels entering or leaving the port should contact Port Operations on VHF Channel 12 for advice and guidance before proceeding. The craft will also listen on VHF Channel 12. If in doubt employ the services of a pilot.
Vessels entering or leaving the port may experience delays and should approach the area with caution and navigate with care until past and clear. Further information on a day to day basis is available from the Harbour Office on 01493‑335503/04 and from Port Operations on 01493‑335511.
