NOTICE TO MARINERS
No. 2 of 2010
Great Yarmouth Port – IALA Signals
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that on the 27th September 2010 at about 12:00 hrs the following changes will take place to the IALA traffic signals at the Port entrances:-
1) Outer Harbour New IALA day and night signals will be established in position 52° 34.790N, 01° 44.68E consisting of:-
a) 3 fixed vertical lights showing to seaward over a 216° arc of visibility, visible from 144° through 270° to 000°, height 10 metres, visible for 2 miles (1 mile day) showing the following signals:- Red Vessel not to approach the port. Green, White, Green Vessel may proceed inward only when she has received specific advice to do so
b) 3 fixed vertical lights showing into the harbour over a 90° arc of visibility, visible from 000° through 045° to 090°, height 10 metres, visible for ½ mile (½ mile day) showing the following characteristics:- Red Vessel not to proceed outwards. Green, White, Green Vessel may proceed outward only when she has received specific advice to do so.
2) River Port
a) IALA day and night signals in position 52° 34.33N, 01° 44.28E will be changed to: 3 vertical lights occulting every 12 secs showing to seaward over a 180° arc of visibility, visible from 235° through 270° to 055°, height 11 metres, visible for 2 miles (1 mile day) showing the following signals: Red Vessel not to approach the port Green Vessels may proceed if safe. One-way traffic. Green, White, Green Vessel may proceed inward only when she has received specific advice to do so
b) New IALA day and night signals will be established in position 52° 34.30N, 01° 44.00E showing 3 vertical lights occulting every 12 secs showing up river over a 19° arc of visibility, visible from 187° through 180° to 168°, height 7 metres, visible for 1 mile (½ mile day) showing the following signals:- Red Vessel not to approach Brush Bend Green Vessels may proceed if safe. One-way traffic. Green, White, Green Vessel may proceed outward only when she has received specific advice to do so
In the event of an emergency and the port is closed, the signals in 1 and 2 above will be replaced by 3 vertical red lights flashing every 2 secs.
(Note: the occl 3 vertical red lights in position 52° 34.29N, 01° 44.05E will be extinguished)
