Local Notice to Mariners No 6 2008
A12 Bascule Bridge Closures
Mariners and Port Users are advised that there will be an additional bridge closure from 2000 hrs Monday 28th January to 0600 hrs Tuesday 29th January. During this period the bridge will be closed to road traffic and shipping.
Extended Weekend Closures
During the following periods the Bascule Bridge will be closed to road traffic, but will be operational to Commercial shipping during the period 1 hour 30 mins before and up to any high-water times which fall within these times.
2000 hrs Saturday 2nd February to 0600 hrs Tuesday 5th February 2008
2000 hrs Saturday 23rd February to 0600 hrs Thursday 28th February 2008
2000hrs Saturday 15th March to 0600 hrs Monday 17th March 2008
Commercial vessels wishing to take advantage of a bridge lift during the period 90 minutes before and up to any high water must inform Lowestoft Port Control 3 hours before the high water time. It is advisable to contact the Port Control as early as possible so that the contractors working on the bridge can adjust their workload accordingly.
Small craft and yachts may only take advantage of a bridge lift during this period if a commercial vessel has booked a lift.
