Local Notice to Mariners No 9 2006
Air Show Exclusion Zone and Bridge Restriction
The 2006 Lowestoft Air Show will take place on Thursday 27th July and Friday 28th July, South Beach Lowestoft.
There will be an “ exclusion zone ” in force extending from the South Beach seawards for 800 metres, between 1100 hours and 1800 hours each day. This area will be monitored by the Coastguard from ashore and afloat.
There will be two display lines marked by a line of buoys lying parallel to the South Beach at approximately 150 and 230 metres from the low water mark. These will be left in place overnight on Thursday 27th without lights.
Vessels wishing to watch the Air Show from Lowestoft South Roads are required to anchor or maintain station outside the 800 metre exclusion zone. Care should be taken when anchoring or in the vicinity of the Newcome Sand, due to the shoaling which is continually changing.
Vessels entering the exclusion zone will become a danger to low flying aircraft and the flying display will be suspended whilst the area is cleared.
In consideration for the safety of the public attending the show, there will be no bridge lifts between 1630 and 1830 hours on both days of the Air Show.
