Local Notice to Mariners No 14 2007
Air Show Safety Exclusion Zone and Bridge Restriction
Mariners and Port Users are advised that the 2007 Lowestoft Air Show will take place on Thursday 26th and Friday 27th July, South Beach Lowestoft. The Honda Power Boat Championship will follow this on Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th July.
There will be an “exclusion zone” in force extending from South Beach seawards for 800 meters, between 1100 hours and 1800 hours each day of the air show. The Coastguard will monitor this area.
Vessels wishing to watch the Air Show from Lowestoft South roads are required to anchor or maintain station outside the 800 metre exclusion zone. Care should be taken in the vicinity of Newcome Sand, due to the shoaling, which is continually changing.
Vessels entering the exclusion zone will become a danger to low flying aircraft and the flying display will be suspended whilst the area is cleared. In addition to the flying display, there will be a procession of the Honda Power Boats during Friday afternoon in the exclusion zone off Lowestoft South Beach.
In consideration for the safety of the public attending the show, there will be no bridge lifts between 1630 and 1830 hours on both days of the Air Show.
