Volunteer Vacancies

The Broads Authority is involved with volunteers in two ways, directly and through other organisations. The Authority has worked with volunteers on nature conservation projetcs since 1989 and further opportunities across the whole of the Authority’s work were identified in the ensuing years.

The scope of the work volunteers undertake covers a wide variety of areas and assists all of the Broads Authority directorates. Volunteers fulfil many of the statutory functions of the Authority and provide a vital link with the local community.

Here are Volunteerssome volunteers at work with our countryside rangers on Wroxham Broad Island. Erosion caused by wind and wash was dividing the island in two which meant that in one area near the centre it was down to one metre. The Broads Authority in partnership with the Norfolk Broads Yacht Club and with funding from the Sustainable Development Fund worked to restore the island, installing alder pole piling and backfilling with dredged material to recreate the lost land. These volunteers are planting a mixture of wetland plants to assist with bank protection.
