Wetland
The Broads is a biodiversity resource of international importance: a mosaic of shallow lakes (Broads), reedbeds and fens, grazing marshes, heath and grassland, wet woodland, estuary and coast. These habitats support numerous species of conservation concern, including fen orchid, holly-leaved naiad, water vole, brown hare and bittern.
The Broads Authority, part of the family of National Parks, is the body with responsibilty for overall delivery of biodiversity within this wetland area covering some 301Km2. These areas of fen, carr woodland and grazing marsh all require a range of management in order to maintain their conservation interest.
The pages within this section provide further information about these habitats and their management.
