Recreation
The potential for recreation on land and water in the Broads is immense. Sailing, motor-boating, rowing, canoeing, fishing, walking, sight-seeing and bird-watching are just some of the ways people enjoy the area.
One of the central responsibilities of the Broads Authority is to promote public enjoyment of the Broads. With more than two million visitors a year, tourism needs sensitive management to protect the area and the quality of the experience for all.
The Broads Authority promotes 'quiet enjoyment' and sustainable tourism: recreation that does no lasting damage to the Broads environment, or to other people's enjoyment of it.
