Air your views on the Broads

The Broads Authority’s annual public meeting will be held this year at Loddon Jubilee Hall, George Lane, on Thursday May 12th, starting at 7.30pm.

It is an opportunity for all those interested in the Broads to find out more about the work of the Authority and share their views on its future priorities.

During the afternoon an exhibition will be held in the club room of the Jubilee Hall from 3-7pm, where officers will be available to listen to the public’s views and discuss the key planning issues facing the Broads.

The evening meeting will comprise presentations on the tolls system and Local Development Framework, and a panel question and answer session.

Boat hirer Daniel Thwaites, a member of a working group which recently reviewed and recommended changes to the tolls system, will be explaining the reasons for these changes, which were adopted by the Broads Authority at its meeting on 22 April.

During April and May the Broads Authority is asking boat owners for their views and priorities for improving the waterways. So this is an ideal opportunity for them to find out more and express their needs and ideas.

Questions will be put to a panel comprising Broads Authority Chairman Professor Kerry Turner, Chief Executive Dr John Packman, Vice Chairman Martin Broom, Chairman of the Navigation Committee Tony Coe, and Chairman of the Planning Committee Julian Swainson.

A member of the planning team will explain the new Local Development Framework for the Broads, which will be followed by a short discussion to identify the main issues for the current review of the Broads Local Plan.
