Apply to be a Broads Authority member
The Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) is seeking an individual with a keen interest in The Broads to become a member of the Broads Authority and advise on the future development of this internationally important wetland and much loved boating area.
The Broads Authority is a member of the national park family and 10 of its 21 members are appointed by Government. The role of members is to set the strategic direction for the Authority which has the important role of overseeing the management of this unique area.
This is a challenging and exciting time for the Authority. It is promoting a Private Bill to make important changes to its legislation, moving to new offices later in 2008 and embarking on a major new initiative of whole valley management. If you would like to make a contribution to this then please consider applying.
Applications from women, members of ethnic minorities, young and disabled people are particularly welcome. Applicants will need to attend a minimum of eight meetings a year on weekdays. The position is unsalaried although a small allowance and expenses are paid.
