Tourism chief takes boat out on Broads
The chief executive of East of England Tourism, Keith Brown, took to the waterways of the Broads on Wednesday 13 February in order to raise the profile internationally of traditional Broads boating holidays.
Mr Brown sampled at first hand a luxury Broads hire cruiser, which he helmed from Broads Tours in Wroxham to the new Broad House Hotel on Wroxham Broad. Here he had lunch with the Chief Executive of the Broads Authority, John Packman, the Chairman of the Broads Forum, Jonathan Bowman, who is former chairman of the East of England Tourist Board, and the Broads Authority’s Head of Tourism, Bruce Hanson.
He then visited the Barton Boardwalk, which gives wheelchair access to the vistas of Barton Broad, before taking a trip on a Broads Authority navigation ranger’s launch on the broad.
Mr Brown wants to promote the East of England as the greenest region in the country and was keen to view the work done by the Broads Authority, which is the UK leader in sustainable tourism.
