Broads birds prove popular

Wildlife enthusiasts at Whitlingham were in for a treat when they attended the “Birds in Autumn- Preparing for Winter” event at Whitlingham Country Park.

The walk, led by wildlife tutor Peter Walton, proffered the chance to see and hear a combination of both migratory and resident birds, including herons, pied wagtails and the elusive kingfisher which flashed past as a beautiful electric blue blur, much to the delight of the bird lovers.

Autumn is the peak period for visible migration, with hundreds of birds on the move to more hospitable areas for the winter months, so it is a fantastic time to turn your gaze look skywards., and Peter’s passion for the subject and great knowledge meant that the event was engaging for people of all levels of experience.

There is another similar event planned for the Wwinter months.- “Birds at Christmas” takes place on 17th December , from 9.30am until 12.30pm at Whitlingham Country Park, and again is suitable for bird enthusiasts of all levels, from beginners through to the experts themselves.
