Cleanest greenest boat show at Salhouse Broad

Sunday 13 September 10.00am-4.00pm, Salhouse Broad, Norfolk

Beautiful Salhouse Broad in Norfolk was alive with boats driven by a wide variety of green propulsion at the fourth annual Green Boat Show on Sunday 13 September.

Boats were propelled by paddles, pedals, sails, oars, electricity, fuel cells, solar panels and wind turbines.

The event is the longest running boat show in the country showcasing green energy, 'low carbon' boating and environmentally-friendly practices.

About 1,000 people were expected to turn out for the event where they were able to take to the water in a wide range of boats including canoes, kayaks, electric, pedal and rowing boats, yachts and dinghies. They were also able to travel to the show by electric water taxi. A regular return service will ran all day from Granary Staithe by Wroxham Bridge.

The Broads Authority provided practical advice on ways to help improve the quality of water in our rivers and offered free green boating products. One of Norfolk Wildlife Trust’s new electric trip boats was on show and there were children’s activities and workshops.

A large marquee housed displays from local companies and environmental organisations while Broadland District Council promoted ways of reducing household energy and gave away free energy saving products. A traditional jazz band provided entertainment and light refreshments were available.
