Craig Kicks Off Broads Outdoors Festival Website

homepage-imageFormer Norwich City footballer and Ambassador for Sport in Norfolk Craig Fleming has launched a new website for the Broads Outdoors Festival. It features all the details of what’s on during the nine day event which kicks off on Saturday 7 May.

The site – www.outdoorsfestival.co.uk – has information about more than 60 events including walks, canoe trails, cycles, geocaching, train trips, boating, art and photography. It’s all designed to tempt people into the Broads to get active and try something new.

Craig, who is a member of Norwich Tri-Anglia triathlon group and a personal fitness instructor said it was great to encourage people to get out, get fit and enjoy the countryside.

He said: “Everyone thinks of boating and holidaying in the Broads but there is so much more to do and the Outdoors Festival will celebrate that. There’s a lot going on so the festival website is great for helping people decide what appeals to them. Hopefully it will encourage people to have a go at something they might not otherwise try.”

Craig will be launching the festival at Whitlingham Country Park on Saturday 7 May. It has been partly funded with money from the European Regional Development Fund as part of the STEP Interreg Two Seas Programme which promotes sustainable tourism. Craig will set the first group of walkers off on their trek and an afternoon of guided walks, fun and sport on and off the water will follow.

Imaginative events during the week combine different methods of transport – train rides, peddling, paddling and walking. You can choose from a huge variety of walks some of which will take you to remote areas not normally open to the public. There are evening strolls, family days out and a Techno Treasure Hunt which will take you on a self-guided trail into the world of geocaching.

There are plenty of opportunities to get out onto the water. You can sail aboard the oldest trading wherry, the Albion, paddle your own canoe, or take a trip aboard a luxury motor boat or a paddle boat.

Full details of the festival can be found at www.outdoorsfestival.co.uk
