1APP application forms and guidance

1APP has been developed by the Government and is compulsory for all Local Planning Authorities across the country. The forms are designed to be filled in online, but copies can be printed out to fill in manually.

There is a separate 1APP form for each type of application - for example a householder application or advertisement consent - and each form has a set of accompanying Guidance Notes to help you fill the forms in.  Please read the Guidance Notes before completing the planning application forms.

To apply for planning permission on line, please use this link to the Planning Portal. The Planning Portal will email the submitted forms, plans and supporting information to us. If you would rather print out the forms and fill them in manually then please go to the Standard Planning Application Forms - 1APP.

You will be required to submit additional information in support of your application and guidance on this can be found in Validation Checklists. Before you submit the forms to us you will need to be sure that all the necessary supporting information has been provided. The supporting information which will be required depends on the type of application that you are submitting and on the characteristics of the proposed development and the site. Unless all the necessary information is submitted we will not be able to validate your planning application and there will be delays in making a decision.

Certificates of Lawful Use or Development can also be applied for via this linkCertificates of Lawful Use or Development are certificates issued by local planning authorities which establish that an existing or proposed use or development of land is lawful.  There are two types of Certificates of Lawful Use or Development so we recommend you take care to apply for the correct one. If you require any assistance with this, please contact the Planning Department. Determination of applications for these Certificates is based on a legal judgement as to whether what is claimed or proposed is lawful in accordance with the relevant planning legislation.

Most planning applications will be subject to an application fee. The fees are set by central government and are available to download (Word doc) [236kb].  These fees can vary greatly depending on the proposed development and if you are in any doubt, it would be best to contact the Planning Directorate.
