Broads Local Plan and Proposals Map
The Broads Local Plan was adopted in 1997. Since that time, the Local Plan has largely been deleted or replaced. However, a significant number of policies remain, and for the time being these continue to form part of the Development Plan for the Broads and should be read in conjunction with the rest of the Development Plan.
Changes in the Local Plan text may be viewed by clicking on the following links:
- Local Plan: Remaining policies at December 2011. This contains only the extant policies of the Local Plan (pdf document) [246kb]
- Local Plan: Full text with deletions and remnants indicated (pdf document) [1.1mb]
- Schedule of original Local Plan policies, their current status and reasons for deletions (pdf document) [362kb]
The deletions from the Local Plan come from two sources:
- As a result of the 2004 Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act, all the Local Plan content was deleted, except for certain policies expressly 'saved' in an Order by the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government. Under the 2004 Act, the Local Plan is gradually being replaced by a Local Development Framework.
- A significant number of the originally saved policies were then superseded in November 2011 upon the adoption of the Broads Development Management Policies DPD.
The Local Plan Proposals Map shows the areas to which the remaining policies apply. References to other policies on the Map should now be ignored.
Eventually, both the remainder of the Local Plan and the Proposals Map will be superseded by the adoption of the Broads Site Specific Policies DPD and the Local Development Framework Proposals Map (anticipated Summer 2013).
Printed copies of the Local Plan are available for inspection at the Authority's head office at Dragonfly House, 2 Gilders Way, Norwich NR3 1UB. For more information, contact the Planning Policy Officer by email at LDF@broads-authority.gov.uk or by telephone on 01603 610734 (main switchboard).
