Public Access (view applications online)

PublicAccess Home banner

Public Access is our online system that allows you to view the planning applications submitted to the Broads Authority - this includes plans, drawings, correspondence and consultation responses. This is viewed through the link 'Associated documents'. The system also allows you to make comments directly to the case officer saving you the need to write and post a letter or send an email.

Currently Public Access holds all Broads Authority processed applications dating abck to April 2007. We are currently adding historical applications previously processed from our 6 district councils and in time hope to have all Broads Authority specific applications available to view from 1989.

Commenting on a Planning Application

When a planning application is received the Broads Authority is required by law to advertise it so that local residents and interested parties can make comments on the proposed development. The legal requirements for advertisement and consultation are set out in the Town and Country Planning (General Development (Procedure) Order) and Circular 15/92.

The advertisement and consultation carried out by the Broads Authority is wider than required by law and includes the following for all applications

Placing a site notice on or near the site;
Consulting immediate neighbours with adjacent boundaries;
Consulting the parish council and providing them with a Site Notice for the Parish noticeboard;
Consulting ward councillors; and
Consulting the Broads Society.
For some types of application we will also advertise the application in the Eastern Daily Press.

Anyone may comment on a planning application - you do not need to have been formally consulted. All comments on planning applications must be received within a specified period - usually 14 or 21 days from the date of notification. This is because the Government sets us targets for the time that we must take to make a decision on a planning application.

There are three ways in which you can comment on a planning application:

By letter sent to our offices, outlining your representation;
By email to the case officer or planning mailbox via our contact form, outlining your representation; or
By using our Public Access pages which will allow you to access the application details and make comments directly.
Please quote the reference number of the planning application in your letter and set out clearly those matters which you want us to consider when we make our decision. We will acknowledge your correspondence within 5 days.

We cannot take into account comments which are made anonymously.

Please note that any comments that you make will be available to view on the planning application file and via Public Access on the Broads Authority website. We aim to remove personal information such as telephone numbers, email addresses and signatures from correspondence received before we publish this on the website, but cannot guarantee confidentiality.

Please ensure that you have read and understood the 'CONDITIONS OF USE' set out below before using Public Access. By clicking the button below you agree to accept these conditions.
