WalkingIf you haven't yet found your sea legs, don't worry - you don't have to be on a boat to enjoy all that the beautiful Broads has to offer. Whether it's a relaxing wander, a trip out with a picnic, or a long distance ramble, there are many wonderful walks within the Broads, just waiting to be discovered.

The Broads offers many opportunities for walking, with over 190 miles (300 km) of footpaths through some of the area's most attractive landscapes. There are nature trails, circular walks and long distance footpaths suitable for anything from a gentle stroll to a strenuous hike. As a rough guide, two miles an hour is an average comfortable walking pace. Dogs are allowed on public rights of way under close control, but many nature reserves do not allow access for dogs.

Broads Walks

Bure Valley and Waveney Valley

There are two series of Broads Walks along public footpaths which have walks packs available to buy. The Bure Valley walks are at Cockshoot (near Woodbastwick), Filby, Oby, Salhouse, Stokesby, Tunstall, Upton - South Walsham and West Caister. The Waveney Valley walks are at Beccles Marshes, Bungay (the Bigod Way), Burgh Castle, Carlton Marshes, Geldeston, Gillingham and Haddiscoe. Further details from Broads Information Centres.

Easy access

Boardwalks or easy access paths suitable for wheelchair users can be found at Barton Broad, Beccles Marsh Trails, Carlton Marshes, Chedgrave, Cockshoot Broad, Filby Broad, Hickling Broad, Horsey Mere, Horstead Mill, Hoveton Riverside Park, How Hill, Ranworth Broad, Rockland St Mary, Salhouse Broad, Whitlingham Country Park and Wheatfen. Long distance footpaths

Three long distance footpaths also run through the Broads. The Weavers' Way runs from Cromer on the north Norfolk coast, to Great Yarmouth on the east coast, passing through the northern part of the Broads. At Great Yarmouth it links up with the Angles Way which follows the Waveney and Little Ouse valleys to Knettishall Heath Country Park in Breckland.
