Biography
I started my working life in the construction industry before becoming a diplomat and spending most of my life abroad in a variety of countries and roles. In 2001 I bought a house beside Daisy Broad, just off the River Bure at Hoveton, where I have lived permanently since 2011. Boating on the Broads has given me a deep appreciation of the outstanding landscape that we live in and the need to manage it sustainably and imaginatively for future generations to enjoy in the same way that we do now.
I joined the Authority in 2015 as a member of the Navigation Committee before being appointed a member of the full Authority by the Secretary of State in 2016. I was appointed Chair of the Broads Authority in 2019.
