This year the Broads Authority will be bringing the Broads National Park to the Royal Norfolk Show and with them a whole host of activities, giveaways and partner organisations.
Their corner of the showground known as the ‘Broads Village’ in the countryside area will centre on the show’s very own ‘mini broad’ upon which visitors can paddle canoes, learn to moor a boat, throw a safety line and admire the sailing boats.
Other highlights not to be missed include Nemo (the custom built water plaything), a green-waste burning retort which transforms Broads waste into clean-burning charcoal which can be purchased at the show, the working replica of the legendary Nutty Slack (the original broads bicycle boat) from the Museum of the Broads, and loads of great activities which kids can easily get stuck into from pond dipping, to badge making, to learning all about historic marsh-man’s tools.
National Park partners, Columbia clothing are offering the opportunity to win one of their Powder Lite jackets and Clif Bar will be offering samples of their energy bars. Children can earn a Broads National Park reward for completing some fun, broads-based activities. The Broads Authority Water, Mills and Marshes team will also be bringing along their Dr Lambert display unit featuring a multitude of the programmes projects.
Broads Authority Head of Communications, Rob Leigh, said of the show,
“The Royal Norfolk Show is a highlight in the Broads Authority’s calendar. We love having the chance to meet the public and share with show-goers all of the amazing things which make the Broads National Park so special. Whether you’re passionate about boating, the environment, history or wildlife there is really something for everybody so make sure that you discover the Broads Village for activities and giveaways galore.”
