Broads Authority seeks volunteers to inspire enthusiasm at events

The Broads Authority is seeking events volunteers to join their enthusiastic team.

The Broads Authority is an active member of the Norfolk and Suffolk community and attends events as diverse as the Royal Norfolk Show, The Great Yarmouth Maritime Festival and the Norwich Science Festival. The Authority also leads on a number of events such as their much loved Whitlingham Wednesday Activity, Picnic in the Park, and Night Adventures. When attending or running events the Broads Authority need volunteers who are happy to engage with the public, give out information, answer questions and help with family activities such as crafts, quizzes, pond-dipping and interactive games.

Individuals best suited to the role would be confident in engaging with new people, enthusiastic about the Broads National Park, have a willingness to work with people from a wide range of backgrounds and be able to commit to a minimum of 6 events or days each year. Engaging with people who both use the Broads regularly or have never visited before is a vital part of the Broads Authority’s role and new volunteers would be joining a passionate team who have great fun working all over the Broads and passing on their enthusiasm.

Education Officer for the Broads Authority, Nick Sanderson said,

“We’re so excited to be able to offer this vacancy for events volunteers. Every event we attend is different but what remains the same is the interest and engagement we enjoy from the public. Event volunteering is a very rewarding way to meet new people and share enthusiasm for the unique qualities of the Broads National Park. For members of the public speaking to volunteers at our events stand is often their first point of contact with the National Park so we’re looking for individuals who are happy to get stuck in and inspire people whether they are nine years old or ninety!”

Closing date for applications is midday Friday 8 February 2019. Applicants must be 18 years or older. All events volunteer applicants must be willing to commit to attending a health and safety and first aid one day course as well as a one day events training session to equip candidates with the knowledge which they will need when representing the Broads Authority.
