Named Totally Broads, the event aims to bring the best of the Broads National Park to be enjoyed by the whole family in the stunning surroundings of Whitlingham Country Park.

Activities will include woodland crafts, walking trails, face painting, canoe paddles, pond dipping, wildlife displays and much more. There will be food from the barn café available to keep you refreshed throughout the day and plenty of space to relax in the sun with a picnic.

Totally Broads has been organised by the Broads Authority although there will be a whole host of other organisations taking part including Whitlingham Adventure, RSPB, Wherry Trust, Badger Wildwood Skills, Norfolk Wildlife Trust and more. Visitors will be able to meet the experts, ask questions and take part in activities to get a real flavour of all the different aspects that make the Broads such a special part of the Norfolk landscape.

Nick Sanderson, Education Officer at the Broads Authority commented:

“The Broads National Park is one of the real gems of Norfolk, so it made perfect sense to combine our Picnic in the Park event with Norfolk Day to create the ultimate family celebration.

“There’s going to be a whole host of varied activities to try relating to everything from wildlife and boating to history and crafts, Totally Broads really will have something for everyone.

“We’re looking forward to Saturday and hope to see lots of happy faces enjoying the sunshine and celebrating all that’s wonderful about Norfolk!”

Totally Broads is a free event although charges may apply for some activities. The event takes place at Whitlingham Country Park, Whitlingham Lane, Trowse, NR14 8TR from 11am to 4pm on Saturday 27 July. Parking charges apply.

Totally Broads is just the beginning of the Broads Authority’s summer events programme and there are free family events at Whitlingham Country Park every Wednesday over the Summer holidays. See http://www.whitlinghamcharitabletrust.com/events for details.
