New Ranger Experience ticks all the boxes

The Broads Authority, last week, ran the first of its new Ranger Experiences and the verdict from visitors was, ‘an incredible and magical trip.’

Picture the scene aboard the Liana - the beautiful electric Edwardian-style launch. As the boat set off, the clouds lifted and the rain shower cleared, giving way to rainbows and dramatic shafts of light reflected on the water. The contrasting green of the riverbank offered the perfect backdrop to spot blue kingfishers darting past, while visitors nibbled on delicious scones and cakes, from a luxury hamper made by the Norfolk Mead Hotel.

A well-kept secret, this quiet boat trip runs along the River Bure as it meanders towards Coltishall and is part of the English National Park Experience Collection.

Reflections on bure

One visitor observed,

“You can be caught up in the stress, the hustle and bustle of the city, but within minutes of being on the water, its calming effect makes you entirely relaxed and serene.”

James Holliday, Owner of The Norfolk Mead commented,

“We are delighted to be working with the Broads Authority to deliver this special experience within the National Park. Our locally-sourced afternoon tea hampers include delicious homemade scones, savouries, and scrumptious cakes, including my wife Anna’s secret recipe chocolate brownies. Our posh pop is Breckland Orchard Strawberry and Rhubarb and we package everything up sustainably in reusable and recyclable boxes to keep it fresh.”

Another visitor said of the trip,

"It was glorious to take a trip along the quieter waterways of the Broads National Park, particularly as the Liana, being electric, is so quiet. The wildlife was abundant, though I still have to see the elusive otter. One day!”

You can pre-book the trip for next spring on: 21, 22, 28 and 29 April 2020, in time to see abundant wildlife returning after winter.

Book online on the Airbnb website
