On 14 April the Broads Authority will be exhibiting at the Norfolk Festival of Nature, bringing their knowledge, enthusiasm and a host of nature activities with them.
The Norfolk Festival of Nature celebrates the cultural relationships which exist between people and the natural world. There will be an array of activities and talks on offer throughout the weekend including Issy Tree in conversation with Patrick Barkham talking about her new book ‘Wilding’ about the rewilding of her Sussex estate. There will be a nature creative writing course with UEA lecturer Jos Smith and a talk on Saving the Planet with Jess French among many other talks and workshops.
The Broads Authority will be showcasing their typically unique stand with plenty on offer to excite young and old. There will be a pond full of aquatic creatures straight out of the Broads. The ever popular array of craft activities for children to enjoy as well as badge-making and competitions galore. Leaflets and information will be available to learn more about the Broads National Park and to speak directly with Broads Authority staff.
The Broads Authority will also be hosting a talk and walk experience at the Festival of Nature. ‘The Nature of the River’ will be hosted by the Broads Authority’s Head of Strategy & Projects, Simon Hooton. Starting at The Forum this walk will go down to the river at Blackfriars Bridge on St George’s Street looking at how the river supports nature.
Broads Authority Communications Officer, Tom Waterfall, said of the event:
“We always enjoy coming along to the Norfolk Festival of Nature and sharing with people our enthusiasm for wildlife. The Broads National Park is home to a quarter of the UK’s rarest wildlife so it’s really important to us that people know about the different species which live here and what they can do to help take care of them. Our stand will be packed full of fun for all of the family and we’re really looking forward to making lots of new friends and sending people home with a few more facts than they turned up with!”
The family fun day in The Forum's Explorium will take place on Sunday 14 April from 10am - 4pm, visit http://norfolkfestivalofnature.co.uk/ for more information.
