Biography
I have previously been a member of the Broads Authority when appointed as a local authority member by Norwich City Council. I retired from the council and the Broads Authority in May 2023. Just over two years later I am absolutely delighted to be back as a Secretary of State appointee.
As a former councillor at a very senior level I have a great understanding of the need to work together as a team, to scrutinise propositions, work within tight budgets, to make sometimes difficult decisions and to plan for the future.
Although I now live in Cromer, just outside of the Broads Authority Executive Area, I have never lost my interest in the Broads and all that it has to offer. I look forward to playing my part in making the area as accessible to all as possible, whilst at the same time protecting the area for all to enjoy in the future.
Since retiring from public service I have embraced retirement. I enjoy working with two charities as a trustee and volunteer at Cromer Community Centre. Living within minutes of the sea I enjoy walking along the coast and in the nearby countryside. We have a reasonable sized garden and I enjoy the challenge of encouraging plants to grow in the sea air and rather windy conditions.
