Biography
Gary Champion has served as a Norwich City Councillor since 2021 and is currently the city's Deputy Mayor. A geography teacher by profession, his background strongly informs his commitment to environmental stewardship and local ecosystems. Over his five years on the council, Gary has gained extensive committee experience serving on Planning, Licensing, and Scrutiny, while regularly leading hands-on volunteer efforts to clear waterways and protect urban parks.
As a Norwich City Council appointee to the Broads Authority, Gary brings a dedicated focus to biodiversity, river health, and water quality. He has consistently championed protective environmental policies at the local level, including driving forward the council’s Nature Networks and Biodiversity Corridors framework to connect and restore habitats. Gary looks forward to blending his educational background, committee experience, and campaign knowledge to collaborate with fellow members, officials, and the public to safeguard the delicate ecosystem of the Broads.
