Biography

First coming to Norwich to study ecology at University of East Anglia, like many, Kevin stayed.  His love of the Norfolk Broads began in those undergraduate days.  His working life has had two distinct halves.  He trained and worked as an Environmental Health Officer both in London and Norfolk.  His interest in industrial accidents that he investigated led to his retraining and entering his second career as a work and organisational psychologist where his research has been about worker health and safety including work-related stress.  His doctoral (and post-doctoral) research has largely focussed on organisational cultures and their effects on a worker’s approach to keeping safe.

His three sons becoming sea scouts was an excuse for him to visit and enjoy the Broads for many years.

Partial retirement gave him the time to enter local politics where he has been a ward councillor for Norwich City Council since 2016. Full retirement enabled him to join the cabinet taking on the environment as an important part of his portfolio. He was Lord Mayor for two years running when his favourite honorary title was Admiral of the Wensum.  Having stepped down from Lord Mayor, he has become the City’s appointment to the Broads Authority.
